Mass Save® offers financial incentives for residential new construction, renovation and addition projects that exceed the Massachusetts building energy code. Since AeroBarrier tightens the building envelope, a major component of the incentive calculations, many projects using AeroBarrier are eligible for incentives.
Mass Save® New Home Program
The Sponsors of Mass Save® promote the construction of new energy-efficient homes in Massachusetts. Financial incentives are offered for residential new construction projects that exceed the base Massachusetts building energy code resulting in high performance, energy-efficient homes. These incentives can be combined with the $2000 EPACT tax credits (see below) for even more savings.
Mass Save® Renovations & Additions Program
The Sponsors of Mass Save® promote incorporating energy efficiency upgrades to renovations and/or additions of existing homes within their service territories. Financial incentives of up to $10,000 per unit are offered for renovation and addition projects that exceed the base Massachusetts building energy code resulting in high performance, energy-efficient homes.
$2000 EPACT 45L Tax Credits
The Energy Policy Act (EPACT) 45L offers tax credits of $2000 per qualified residential unit to builders and developers. Single family and multi-family projects which are three stories or less must demonstrate a 50% reduction in heating/cooling and a 10% energy reduction from the envelope when compared to the 2006 IECC. The housing unit must be designed for occupancy with at least one bedroom, living room, and kitchen.
All projects must be verified by an approved HERS Rating company.
